Some Bad News

Well, I have just confirmed, half of Thrash Bus II has been lost to corrupted files, and is irretrievable. The latter half of the film, which was fortunately, already rendered out, is fine. The first forty minutes, however, will need to be re-loaded onto the computer, and re-edited. Thats about six months worth of work.

I am now really pissed off.

Corrupted Files Cause Havok

Hi all,

Well, regular readers of this blog will know that the pressure is on to complete Thrash Bus II, and I thought I'd drop in with a quick update on how things are going. To be honest, they are not going too well. Due to the virus and reinstall of Windows on to the computer in recent weeks, a large bunch of video files have been corrupted, meaning that the editing programmes I am using can no longer load them: it means that some of the scenes i have edited now have large gaps in them. The only way to fix this is to recapture the footage again, and re-edit it into the still-okay footage.
While this is a pain in the backside, its not as bad as it could have been. While i was thinking that I would have to wipe TBII clean and start from scratch again, its looking like that is not going to be the case. Thankfully.
What this does mean, though, is that its unlikely to be finished by the time my brother gets married, which is when I had hoped to have it done by. And if I can get it done by then, its going to come down to the wire. Wish me luck!
An additional note: if you havent seen a trailer for TBII, then pop over to YouTube and do a search for Thrash Bus, and click on the relevant link, or, alternatively, you can watch the last trailer made for TBII, by going to Angela's blog and scrolling down a little. If I knew how to link them to this page, I would do it. Bad luck, you'll have to do the hard slog yourself.
Anyway, just thought I'd check in....

Losing A Pet

An ode to Sunny, our pet bird who flew the coop on Sunday morning, after making a desperate bid for freedom from his cage by flying into my face as I opened the door. He was last seen flying towards the airport. Hopefully he avoided any jet engines. Here is a poem one of my work collegues wrote for me upon hearing the news:

to the most beautiful bird
i have ever met
you are truly the one
i cannot forget
the most beautiful bird
in the world to me.
to my little princess bird
dont set my heart free.
those eyes, those feather,
your cheep,
i just cant believe your really
not in your cage..
i will never forget you
it feels so empty not
without you in my life.

Thrash Bus 2 Is on the Internet

Gotcha! Its not quite, although I did upload a trailer for it onto YouTube yesterday. Anybody wanting to see some TBII footage on the web can look it up under (funnily enough) Thrash Bus.
Hopefully the film will be coming soon too......

Rodney out.

Wisdom Teeth

Well, Lisa is at the hospital right now having her wisdom teeth taken out. Its been a long time coming and I am glad we have finally opted to get it done. I am here at home, just down the road from the hospital, waiting for the phone call to say she's out of theatre and ready to go home. If anybody has extra prayers they can send our way, that would be good: for Lisa for a speedy recovery, and for me who will have to put up with any complaining she is going to do.
Have a good one!

Well, the computer has returned to its rightful place in the pad, and the video editing shall recommence post haste once more.
Four weeks and counting.

Waiting to Inhale

Sorry it's been so long since my last post, but I took my computer around to Pauls weekend before last to reinstall Windows (due to some weird virus related issues I suspect) and am still waiting to get it back. Hopefully, I should see the machine back under my desk at home within 24 hours.
I also looked at the calendar the other day, and figured that I now have less than four weeks to complete the masterpiece that is Thrash Bus II. I promised Box that I'd have it done by his wedding, and until last week was on track to complete it with plenty of time, but the virus and reinstall has forced me to reconsider. This weekend, provided I get the puter back by then, is pretty much a write off coz I have sound training/sound mixing on both Saturday and Sunday at Trinity. I will be able to get some done on Sunday morning, but saturday and the sunday evening will be gone. Pity, coz I really wanted to get it done this week. Oh well.
I have to send a special thought to Ang in South Korea at the moment, as she happens to be sitting in the middle of the worlds biggest crisis at the moment.... well, next to it at least. Come home Ang. No point getting blown up.
When you see the footage, its quite scary, and always reminds me of the atomic testing done at Maralinga in the 50's and 60's. The effects of nuclear weaponry is never good, no matter how expensive your Public Relations officer.
Perhaps the rapture is near?

Losing One's Temper

For those that know me, you'd say I was a fairly placid kid of guy. It takes a bit to get me riled up. Lets just say that yesterday, I got riled up. My supervisor decided to tell me I'd done something wrong (according to the administration people who work upstairs) but couldn't clarify this when asked exactly what she was talking about. Now this happens on a regular basis, and not just to me. But after a week of trying to do three peoples jobs, instead of the usual 1 (mine) I was fed up with people saying I wasn't doing a good job so I turned around and told my boss I thought it was bullshit. If she couldn't tell me what I had supposedly done wrong I couldn't anser her stupid question as to why she was getting annoyed phone calls from upstairs.
Lets just say that I was so mad that I was shaking.

Good thing I had nothing to throw.

Anyway, I have calmed down now, and am back to normal workload (now that people are no longer sick or on annual leave) so things should calm down a bit.

Just thought I'd share.

Grand Final

Well, the Crows weren't playing, but West Coast and Sydney battled it out yesterday afternoon in Melbourne, for the premiership fo the ALF for 2006.

What a game. West Coast won by a single point in one of the closest Grand Finals in 40 years. Not cince St Kilda defeated Catlron in the 60's has a Grand Final come down to such a close result. While neither Lisa nor myself support eaither of the two teams playing, it was one of the greatest Grand Finals I have ever witnessed. Skill, tension, contests around the ball.... the term "classic" gets bandied about far too easily these days; I think this Grand Final was deserving of the term.

Now, hopefully the Crows can make it to the GF next year........

Peace out!
