Losing A Pet

An ode to Sunny, our pet bird who flew the coop on Sunday morning, after making a desperate bid for freedom from his cage by flying into my face as I opened the door. He was last seen flying towards the airport. Hopefully he avoided any jet engines. Here is a poem one of my work collegues wrote for me upon hearing the news:


to the most beautiful bird
i have ever met
you are truly the one
i cannot forget
the most beautiful bird
in the world to me.
to my little princess bird
dont set my heart free.
those eyes, those feather,
your cheep,
i just cant believe your really
not in your cage..
i will never forget you
it feels so empty not
without you in my life.
